Policy Uncertainty Index

Every quarter since Q3 of 2015 Prof Raymond Parsons and I have put together a Policy Uncertainty Index. As we say in the report:

“The role of policy uncertainty has loomed large in much of the recent economic debate in SA. It is seen to have important implications for business confidence and the investment climate in the country. Hardly any recent economic assessment or media release from international or local financial institutions, business lobbies, economic analysts, financial journalists or credit rating agencies appears without the inclusion of the words ‘policy uncertainty’ occurring in them”.

Over time we have been able to capture some of the main events influencing policy uncertainty (and Prof Raymond has written some excellent reports).
